SHIPPER'S INSURANCE
Ocean Shipment
By law, it is the carrier who bears responsibility for loss or damage to your shipment although UCB Logistics arranges for the transportation of your cargo. Under the terms of US COGS (Carriage of Goods by Sea Act), carrier shall not be liable for loss and/or damage in an amount exceeding five hundred dollars in U.S. currency (USD 500) per package, or in case of goods not shipped in packages, per customary freight unit. In no event shall carrier be liable for any loss of possible profit, claims and consequential loss.
Air Shipment
All Carriage is subject to the rules relating to liability established by the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention and if carrier to be proven they were negligent, carriers will only be liable to pay 19 SDRs (About USD26) per kilogram. All proof of negligent to the carrier will be responsible by the shipper in which will be difficult to prove that the carrier was accountable.
As per above, the default coverage for both Ocean Air shipments for damages and/or losses are very low. For your business protection, we highly recommended that all cargo are safeguarded under cargo insurance.
